Storebrand Livsforsikring AS is part of the Storebrand Group, an integrated financial services organization with its principal operations in the areas of life and health insurance, fund management, and banking. Storebrand has a dominant position in the Norwegian life insurance market with an approximate share of 27.4% as measured by total premiums and in 2008, had total premium income of NOK 16.3 billion (USD 2.57 billion). Storebrand is also one of the largest managers of private savings in Norway and one of the country's largest investors in real estate.

In 2008, Storebrand became the Nordic region’s leading provider of long-term savings and insurance following its acquisition of Swedish life and pension company, SPP.

Storebrand Livsforsikring AS is a part owner (25%) of Nordben Life and Pension Insurance Company Ltd. in Guernsey, which provides specialized products and flexible pension/insurance solutions especially designed for expatriates, third-country nationals, and local key personnel of Nordic multinational companies.

The Storebrand International Life Department primarily serves the business areas of major client life and corporate life and is divided into the following four areas: Network (multinational pooling), Nordben (risk and savings), Provident Fund (retirement savings plan for seafarers) and BUPA (health care insurance - Storebrand is the representative for BUPA International in Norway).

Storebrand Investment Management AS manages funds for the Storebrand Group and provides discretionary management for external customers. The company had funds of NOK 229 billion (USD 35.8 billion) under management at the end of 2008, making it one of Norway’s largest private sector investment management operations. Storebrand Livsforsikring AS has been rated A- (Strong) by Standard & Poor's and A2 (Good) by Moody’s based on its strength in the Norwegian insurance market, excellent capitalization, and good operating performance.
